Review of Australia's consumer policy framework: draft report

Publisher
Consumers Productivity Australia
Description

Australia's consumer policy framework has considerable strengths, but parts of it require an overhaul if it is to effectively meet the needs of consumers, businesses and the community in the decades ahead. At present, its capacity to deliver good outcomes is compromised by institutional deficiencies and gaps in the policy and enforcement tool kit. These problems will make it increasingly difficult to respond to rapidly changing consumer markets, meaning that the associated costs will continue to grow.

The Commission is seeking comment from interested parties on its draft report through written submissions and/or attendance at public hearings to be held early in 2008.
