Description
The Gurra Gurra Framework has been developed using analysis of international leading practice, with input from across the department and co-designed with external First Nations leaders in Queensland to identify and formalise the structure required for change. This strategy aims to help Department of Environment and Science (DES) to reframe relationships with First Nations peoples by holding Country and First Nations people at the centre of policies and programs to service delivery.
Key Findings/Recommendations:
- The framework aims to strategically plan the procurement of services to remove barriers and encourage participation of First Nations businesses through simplifying process, increasing capability and creating enablers.
- Enabling the department to be more culturally capable and agile through providing place-based opportunities to develop knowledge in the areas of cultural safety, diversity of culture, community structure and governance processes.
- This initiative aims to create more employment pathways for First Nations staff to progress through the agency, and increase representation of First Nations staff at all levels of the department.
