Description
Victoria’s native forests are precious natural assets, providing environmental, health and wellbeing, cultural and socio-economic benefits.
Effective regulation of timber harvesting is crucial to ensure this resource is protected for future generations. The Victorian Office of the Conservation Regulator (OCR) was established in 2019 to improve timber harvesting regulation and to ensure harvesting does not adversely affect other forest values.
This audit examines whether OCR effectively monitors and enforces compliance with timber harvesting regulations focusing on its forest report assessments and investigations.
