Report into Victorian oversight agencies 2016-17
This is the sixth report of the Victorian Parliament’s Accountability and Oversight Committee (the Committee). This report examines the 2016–17 annual reports of the three agencies the Committee oversees: the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner (OVIC), the Victorian Ombudsman and the Victorian Inspectorate.
The report comprises four chapters. This chapter covers the role and responsibilities of the Committee and Victoria’s oversight system generally. The following three chapters will examine in greater detail, each of the three annual reports for the 2016–17 financial year of the agencies the Committee oversees. Chapter 2 examines the performance of the OVIC. Chapter 3 examines the performance of the Victorian Ombudsman. Chapter 4 examines the performance of the Victorian Inspectorate in respect of the Victorian Ombudsman
