Description

This submission offers a whole-of-government response to the Yoorrook Justice Commission’s two issues papers on systemic injustice experienced by First Peoples in the Victorian criminal justice and child protection systems.

The submission states the Government is committed to enabling the design and implementation of a Child Protection and Family Services system by First Peoples for their children and looks forward to the Commission's recommendations that they can forge a new relationship between First Peoples and the State of Victoria based on equality, truth and justice.

It recognises colonisation, justified by an ideology of racial supremacy has caused immeasurable damage to First Peoples, the effects of which are still evident today.
