The Big Picture series overview of trends in government investment in arts and culture is based on an analysis of Australia’s most comprehensive dataset on this topic, the cultural funding by governments (CFG) series.
This report:
- provides an updated overview of expenditure trends covering the years 2007–08 through 2021–22, based on analysis of the latest CFG release
- explores policy opportunities based on the CFG survey, as well as cross-country comparisons from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
- calculates expenditure directed to the cultural and creative industries during the three financial years most impacted by the pandemic in Australia.
