The Interim Truth and Treaty Body conducted 21 sessions across Queensland to gain community input into key design elements in supporting the establishment of the Truth-Telling and Healing Inquiry (the Inquiry) and the First Nations Treaty Institute.

The Inquiry's key function is to document the effects of colonisation on First Nations people. The First Nations Treaty Institute is independent of Government and supports the treaty-making process with particular regard to the interests of First Nations peoples.

Community feedback stressed the importance of the Truth-Telling and Healing Inquiry to consult and engage with First Nations peoples and all Queensland to guide the design and conduct of formal truth-telling. The processes to select the Inquiry and Institute Council members needs to be transparent and accountable.
