Description
The report provides an assessment of state and territory performance against the benchmarks outlined in the Essential Vaccines Schedule (EVS) for the period 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024.
The EVS is an agreement between the Commonwealth of Australia and the states and territories, which aims to 'support the cost-effective and efficient delivery of the National Immunisation Program to protect the Australian public from the spread of vaccine preventable diseases'.
Key findings
- South Australia, Tasmania and Australian Capital Territory met all benchmarks in 2023–24.
- New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia met 4 of the 5 benchmarks in 2023–24.
- All jurisdictions met the performance benchmark for HPV vaccination coverage in 2023.
- All jurisdictions met the benchmark for vaccine coverage for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in 2023–24.
