Description

This report provides insights gathered from Queenslanders with disability, family/carers and organisational representatives who engaged with a research survey for 2025. Queenslanders shared authentically and transparently about what is going well and what is challenging across many aspects of their lives.  The research looks at the experiences of Queenslanders with disability at one point in time each year.

The survey collected stories across all seven outcome areas of Queensland’s Disability Plan 2022-2027: Together, a Better Queensland and Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021-2031. Diverse and sometimes divergent perspectives were shared. It is important to recognise that while this report presents key findings, it does not represent all disability experiences throughout the state.

The topics covered in this report included important areas of life aligned with the priority areas in Queensland’s Disability Plan 2022-27: Together, a better Queensland. Each section begins with a short summary of key trends over the past three years followed by a detailed look at 2025 and the actionable insights gained from the data.

There was progress in areas like health and safety and declines in employment and housing security. Compounding challenges include the increasing pressure of the cost-of-living and the difficulties navigating complex systems.
