Description
This factsheet reports on the number of people sentenced in Victorian courts in 2023–24 for committing a serious offence while serving a community correction order (CCO). Serious offences include serious
violent offences and sexual offences.
Key findings
- 81,755 people serving active CCOs from 16 January 2012 to 30 June 2024.
- 3,405 people sentenced for a serious offence from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024.
- 503 people sentenced in 2023–24 for a serious offence committed while serving a CCO.
- The three most common serious offences in 2023–24 were: make threat to kill, aggravated burglary and make threat to inflict serious injury.
- Make threat to kill has consistently been the most common serious offence committed by people serving a CCO since 2016–17.
