Sexual offending in Australia 2023–24
This statistical report covers sexual offending proceeded against by police in all Australian states and territories for the period 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024. The report provides data on sexual offenders, sexual offence victims, youth offenders and adult offenders. In 2023–24, police proceeded against 10,359 individuals for sexual offences in Australia.

Do females known for online child sexual exploitation differ from males? Group characteristics and recidivism
Despite increasing research on online child sexual exploitation, limited research compares female and male perpetrators. This study examined 116 females and 116 age-matched males known to police in Victoria for online child sexual exploitation on group characteristics and risk of reoffending. The findings have implications for policy and highlight several important avenues for future research.

An examination and recommendations about the offence of non-fatal strangulation in a domestic setting in section 315A of the Criminal Code (Qld), and applicable procedural rules and practices. The report makes a compelling case to reform Queensland’s response to non-fatal strangulation and charts a clear program of education, accountability and support. It makes 18 recommendations.

The relationship between pornography use and sexual violence in Australian men
Concerns have been raised regarding pornography’s influence on sexual violence, particularly among men. Questions remain regarding the strength of this association, including among Australian men, and its underlying mechanisms. The study provides valuable information to inform measures to prevent and counteract any potential negative impacts of violent pornography on sexual behaviour.

Serious offending by people serving a community correction order 2023–24
This factsheet reports on the number of people sentenced in Victorian courts in 2023–24 for committing a serious offence while serving a community correction order. Serious offences include serious violent offences and sexual offences. The three most common serious offences were: make threat to kill, aggravated burglary and make threat to inflict serious injury.
