The national child and family investment strategy
The strategy focuses on driving the shift towards earlier supports and the transition towards the Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation (ACCO) sector. The strategy shows how all governments will prioritise funding to child and family services. The goal is to support all families to provide safe and caring homes for their children. ACCOs are best placed to deliver complete supports to First Nations children, families and communities.
The strategy focuses on:
- prioritising early, targeted supports that strengthen families and prevent harm
- addressing the social and structural determinants that impact child and family wellbeing
- embedding healing-informed, culturally safe and community-led approaches across the system.
Most states and territories have endorsed the strategy. They are preparing their own implementation plans to suit local needs.
