Description
As part of its planned humanitarian program, the government allocates places each year to refugees and others with humanitarian needs. This year's humanitarian program allocated 13,000 places for 2005-06, including 6000 places for the resettlement of refugees and 7000 places for the Special Humanitarian Program and protection visas in Australia. This research note outlines Australia's humanitarian response over the last sixty years and includes regional initiatives and international comparisons.
