Serious offending by people serving a community correction order 2023–24
This factsheet reports on the number of people sentenced in Victorian courts in 2023–24 for committing a serious offence while serving a community correction order. Serious offences include serious violent offences and sexual offences. The three most common serious offences were: make threat to kill, aggravated burglary and make threat to inflict serious injury.

This report examines Victoria’s prison population from 2004 to 2024. It considers the lengths of prison sentences imposed in Victorian courts, the demographics of Victorian prisoners, the sentenced and unsentenced (remand) populations, and the flow of prisoners through the prison system. It finds that Victoria’s prison population increased by 62% in 20 years.
