This guide is the third in a suite of sector-specific guides prepared as part of a joint collaboration between the Australian Human Rights Commission and KPMG Australia. This resource is a guide to help the health services industry respond effectively to the Modern Slavery Act 2018  (Cth).

This guide is intended to help children and young people understand child sexual abuse, how and where to get help, and how the national strategy is improving Australia’s response to child sexual abuse. It is recommended for children aged 9 years and up.

The publication of this report is the culmination of the Australian Human Rights Commission’s project about protecting the human rights of people born with variations in sex characteristics in the context of medical interventions.

This report finds that much work remains to be done to address significant gaps in corporate accountability for adverse human rights impacts, to ensure victims have access to remedy, and to operationalise the business ‘responsibility to respect’ human rights in Australia.

This report identifies stereotypes, attitudes and beliefs about age that prevail in Australia, and captures some of the ways in which people in Australia understand and experience their impacts.
