This first annual strategic foresight report presents the European Commission’s strategy to integrate strategic foresight into EU policy-making.

This report contains policy and investment recommendations for trustworthy Artificial Intelligence, addressed to EU institutions and Member States. The High-Level Expert Group on AI puts forward suggestions that can guide trustworthy AI towards sustainability, growth and competitiveness, as well as inclusion – while empowering, benefiting and protecting human beings.

This report explores the policy choices that AI and robotisation present for the future of labour and puts forward recommendations on addressing these choices. The new digital technologies will have different impacts on jobs in the short and longer term. To grasp the full story, we need to consider the time dimension of the issue.

The guidelines put forward a set of 7 key requirements that the expert group believes AI systems should meet in order to be deemed trustworthy. A specific assessment list aims to help verify the application of each of the key requirements. The first draft of these guidelines was released in December 2018 for public consultation.

The Environmental Implementation Review aims at improving implementation in the field of EU environmental policy and legislation by identifying the causes of implementation gaps and addressing systemic obstacles to environmental integration across policy sectors. It maps the main challenges for each Member State, as well as existing good practices and points of excellence.
