This project was part of the South Australian Department for Correctional Services’ (DCS) exploration of policy options for transforming its current prisoner art activities and a selection of existing prison industry activity into a comprehensive creative industries program for prisoners.

The Mobilong Prison Radio pilot was an action research community project that involved a series of radio production workshops with a group of prisoners, and culminated in a CD to be used to assist new prisoners through their induction at the prison.

This research project aims to explore how a story-time radio show might add value to the United We Read program, and investigate if such a radio show can further engage children in their love of reading, and assist parents’ involvement, regardless of their own levels of literacy.
