This report is designed to help change the conversation about parenting. If we want to give children the best chance of healthy development we need to better support the parents who care for them. We can do this by using and sharing what we know from research.

This paper outlines some of the findings from the 2018 Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey that may have ramifications for social and economic policy. The findings include increasing use of paid child care, slowing in growth of household incomes, regional disparities and declining relative income poverty.
