Clinical governance is an essential component of a health service’s broader organisational governance system and ensures that there is a clear understanding of accountabilities for care outcomes. This paper identifies that care for individual consumers is being increasingly shared amongst multiple providers.

This paper highlights the gaps in knowledge relating to the implementation of shared care cancer follow-up models in Australia. It focuses on some of the key considerations for implementing shared care, including the need to collect primary care data and link this to patient health outcomes data.
