The purpose of this report is to engage deeply with one fundamental question - what will be required of Queensland’s construction workforce from now to 2050 to deliver the renewable energy boom?

Australia is in the midst of a remarkable energy transition. With the election of the Albanese Government, Australia is now targeting net-zero emissions by 2050. This report argues that such a transformation creates profound opportunities for Australia – a country that has always enjoyed advantages when it comes to energy production.

This paper argues that by 2040, low-carbon hydrogen could play a significant role in energy systems and energy transitions across the world. In the context of energy transition, it serves to support countries’ efforts to achieve the Paris Agreement goals, whilst contributing to the diversity and security of their energy portfolios.
