This first annual report for the Australia’s Disability Strategy Outcomes Framework provides an overview of all measures being tracked under Australia’s Disability Strategy at ‘baseline’ – that is, when the strategy began in December 2021.

Pathways to Employment (P2E) was a small, proof-of-concept trial to test the efficacy of mainstream employment pathway support for young people in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Despite implementation constraints associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, this evaluation shows that the P2E trial generated encouraging results, as well as highlighting areas for further development.

The ethical and business cases for diversity, equity and inclusion are well known across Australian workplaces. This report argues that there is an ethical, legal, economic and labour market imperative to creating diverse, equitable and inclusive workplaces in Australia.

The findings of this research reflect the need to build greater understanding, transparency and accountability in order to fully include disabled workers in the Australian screen industry.

This discussion paper is part of a broader consultation process to guide the development of a new specialist disability employment services model to replace the current DES program from 1 July 2025.
