Pathways to adolescent executive function in Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children

This article describes research into adolescent executive functioning in Australian Indigenous children, examining the role of early home and learning environments and key developmental skills. Longitudinal data indicates preschool visual motor and literacy skills and early school classroom self-regulation predict adolescent executive function. Policy responses for family and early learning services are suggested.

Report card: on the Northern Territory Governments DFSV strategy 2025–2028 as a response to the Coroner's report


A report card assessing progress against the recommendations made by the Northern Territory Coroner in 2025 following the inquest into the domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) related deaths of four Aboriginal women. The purpose of the report is to strengthen accountability, prioritise progress and support a coordinated Territory-wide response.

A 10-year national strategy that will guide actions towards ending violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children. The plan is grounded in culture and lived experiences. Woven throughout the plan are eight principles that underpin change based on self‑determination, truth-telling, lived experience, healing, systemic transformation, intersectionality, accountability and Indigenous data sovereignty.

This position paper reviews current policies focused on racism and health and examines how well these are addressing the unique and catastrophic impacts that racism has on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children's health. It calls for urgent action to support local, community-led responses and drive systemic reform to protect and promote their wellbeing.
