This policy brief is for Victorian State Government departments. It aims to inform state-level policy and programs that could support climate change adaptation (CCA) planning by community service organisations (CSOs) and primary care partnerships (PCPs).

This Think Tank explored the potential to build economic, social and environmental resilience across regional cities and their hinterlands, specifically investigating strong city centres’ capacity to adapt to climate change impacts and their consequences.

Given VCCCAR represents a partnership between Victoria’s universities and the Victorian government, a key focus of this analysis is on the manner in which these two institutions have interacted as VCCCAR has worked toward achieving its objectives.

Charrettes are successfully used in the most controversial and complicated design and planning problems. Examples of these include: High stakes projects involving substantial public and private investment; Volatile yet workable political environments - situations that are ‘hot’ but manageable; Complex design problems; Real projects that include imminent development.

The impacts of climate change for ports will include increased run-off and siltation requiring increased dredging; disturbance and distribution of currently entrained heavy metals and other pollutants; delays to berthing and cargo handling; coastal flooding; and required engineering upgrades to wharfs, piers, gantries and other cargo handling equipment.
