As part of its Community Services Industry Planning work, VCOSS commissioned the Future Social Service Institute (FSSI) to write an evidence review on ten key areas of the community services sector.

This report provides a summary overview of occupational skills information practices in selected countries and organisations, with the aim of highlighting the approaches adopted by each to the design, content, update and provision of skills information. In addition, it showcases good practice in ensuring such information is current and accessible.

The Census provides a snapshot of employment at August 2016 based on where a person usually lives and, in this case, the electorate level data can assist in analysing variations in employment patterns for an electorate when compared to a larger region. Sub-regions within an electorate can also be analysed.

Long-term unemployment remains a threat for young Australians, but blaming them for this situation is not supported by the facts.

This report examines the ongoing polarisation in Australian employment patterns, between those with full-time, relatively secure jobs, and a growing portion of people working part-time, casual, temporary, or insecure positions.
