This report of the first-ever detailed study of financial elder abuse specifically in remote towns and Aboriginal communities, finds that Aboriginal elders are under immense financial pressure, and often find themselves providing for extended family on an individual pension or other income.

The key aim of this project has been to elevate the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls, and to reflect the holistic and interconnected nature of their lives. This community guide sets out the major findings and cross-cutting themes that are explored in detail in the Wiyi Yani U Thangani report.

The interim report highlights the disparity in power between Indigenous peoples and industry in the protection of Indigenous heritage, and the serious failings of legislation designed to protect Indigenous heritage and promote Native Title.

This report builds upon past research work through a strengths-based national engagement process, seeking community reflections on the status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls’ rights over the past 34 years, and into the present day.

This publication is the first monograph to examine how the Taungurung Nation of central Victoria negotiated with protectors and pastoralists to retain possession of their own country for as long as possible. The book shares generational knowledge, in order to revitalise relationships to place and establish respect and mutual practices of care for Country.
