This paper seeks to make a broad review of interlinkages and to provide some ideas for an overarching framing to clarify the synergies, complementarities and trade-offs between agricultural and rural policy approaches, with a view to enabling further suggestions for learning through dialogue.

This report presents estimates of the expenditure and usage patterns in the Australian healthcare system based on geographical remoteness, exploring health expenditure from a patient-centred perspective. It demonstrates the shortfall in health expenditure across hospital, community, aged care, the disability sector and ancillary care in Australia’s regional and remote communities.

This project aims to better understand what is different about living in regional areas that leads to poorer mental health and difficulties accessing support, and what further support is needed to improve the lives and wellbeing of people living in those communities.

Seymour in central Victoria is often characterised as a site of persistent disadvantage. The Flip It study drew on interviews with women and community workers to understand their views about the town, experiences of living in Seymour, perceptions of what helps or hinders women’s economic security, and opportunities for change.

This report analyses regional job vacancy data from both 2022 and from the last decade to present a view of the labour market challenges and opportunities in regional Australia.
