Impact at scale is a goal that many organisations in the social purpose sector strive to achieve. This paper brings together a uniquely Australian set of perspectives on creating widespread impact.

The overarching goal of this project is to develop an ongoing evidence base on poverty, entrenched disadvantage and social exclusion in Western Australia that will be used by the policy and practice community in Western Australia.

Drawing on data from the Opportunities module of the 2022 wave of the OECD Risks that Matter survey, this paper looks at people’s concerns about inequality and examines their views on the role held by different actors – ranging from public and private sectors to civil society and citizens – in reducing economic divides.

This snapshot shows that children who grow up with a parent receiving welfare payments (especially for longer total durations) are themselves at risk of not being in education, employment or training at age 18–19. This finding presents several implications for Australian policy and practice.
