This report details research conducted to understand the demographic characteristics of contemporary Australian families with young children aged 0 to 5 years – the extent to which they are empowered, connected and supported and the factors that enable this. It also identifies current data gaps and limitations, as well as broad policy implications.

It outlines the policy problem and rationale for action; overview of methodology; policy options for reducing children’s exposure to unhealthy food and drink marketing; and an assessment of potential impacts. The analysis indicates that current self-regulatory arrangements do not provide sufficient protection.

Regional visas are a growing part of Australia’s skilled migration system. They are intended to support regional economies and ease pressure on major cities. However this analysis finds many regional visa holders are not in places the public may think of as 'regional'. It concludes that regional policy may not be having its desired effect.

A report into the tax treatment of Australian oil and gas resources, including proposals for changes to the tax treatment of gas production and export. The views and recommendations of committee members are presented. Agreement was unable to be reached on a set of recommendations on Australia's approach to the taxation of its gas resources.
