In the past 10 years, there has been a rapid proliferation of publicly available tools and applications using artificial intelligence (AI). Using Australian data, this report measured the perceived frequency of AI-enabled crimes and which specific technologies pose the greatest perceived risk of victimisation. The findings highlight priority areas for industry safeguards and public education.

Recruitment practices in Australia continue to evolve as employers draw on a wide range of methods to find staff. Evidence from the Recruitment Experiences and Outlook Survey shows that no single method works for all employers. This report examines the different methods and combinations used by employers, and identifies which methods were considered successful.

The Rockliff Government’s integrity report card


The integrity scorecard assesses the first six months of the re-elected Rockliff Government (Tasmanian Government) across eight reform areas, including Right to Information, ministerial diary disclosure, lobbying oversight, integrity in appointments, parliamentary standards, government advertising, the Government’s relationship with integrity officers and reforms to the Integrity Commission. It finds an uneven integrity performance.

Reform of heritage legislation


Several states have recently overhauled their planning legislation. This paper discusses flaws in heritage legislation and how they might be rectified. It finds that heritage decisions fail to consider the costs of heritage protections. As a result, too many unremarkable buildings are preserved, restricting housing density and exacerbating the housing crisis.
