The VicHealth healthy eating strategy 2017–2019 is part of VicHealth’s organisational goal to have one million more Victorians with better health and wellbeing, including 200,000 more Victorians adopting a healthier diet by 2023.
Our approach will be to work collaboratively with partners to create environments and support policies that make the healthy choices the easy choice, and to deliver research and innovation that builds on the evidence for best practice approaches to promote healthy eating. The Strategy will inform our research and investment over 2017-2019, and will focus on four priority areas:
- Reducing salt consumption
- Promoting water as the drink of choice instead of sugar-sweetened beverages
- Increasing fruit and vegetable consumption
- Food environment policy change
