Brian Fisher’s report raises a number of serious questions.
BAEconomics is a consultancy firm. Fischer has worked for the Minerals Council and numerous coal companies. The Morrison Government has the resources of the entire public service at its disposal. It is strange that the Minister for Energy prefers the work of a consultant to the Minerals Council to that of his own department or the Treasury.
Has this report been commissioned? There is no disclosure in the report. Moreover, has actually been peer-reviewed, as has been reported?
The report itself thanks a Stanford Professor (John Weyant) but does not credit him for peer-reviewing. This is usually a blind exercise; peer reviewers are not normally known to the author.
