Description
While other sectors of the UK economy reduce emissions, the aviation industry is set to continue to grow for another decade.
Zero emission aircraft could be viable in the future, but that is likely to be decades away. In the meantime, other solutions, such as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) can play an important role in decarbonising the sector.
Power-to-liquid (PtL) fuel offers 100 per cent reduction in emissions and, if scaled up, offers significant carbon savings in the years ahead.
In this report, the authors recommend the government set targets for increasing the use of PtL fuel, alongside its planned wider SAF mandate, to tackle climate change, create jobs and support the growth of new green industries across the UK.
