This consultation paper considers potential options for increasing and improving the use of sentence deferrals in Victoria.

It poses 14 questions about potential reforms, such as legislative changes relating to sentence deferrals, as well as the programs available to people whose sentence has been deferred.

To support community feedback on the proposed reforms, the paper presents new data on how sentence deferrals are currently used, including who has their sentence deferred and their reoffending rates.
