This discussion paper is part of a project exploring ways to strengthen financial and economic outcomes for Indigenous people under the Indigenous Economic Development Strategy. One area of focus for government is the engagement between Indigenous Australians and the resources industry; particularly in the area of agreements about access to Indigenous land to facilitate mining and other resource development activities.

This discussion paper invites contributions and feedback on solutions for effectively managing native title agreements between Indigenous Australians, government and the resource industry. The paper highlights key issues for consideration including legislative issues, developing agreements, managing funds, accountability and so forth.
