Description

This snapshot examines the working lives and employment histories of young Australians in their secondary school years. It investigates possible interference with social activities, organised activities, health and study that students in paid employment might experience.

The snapshot addresses three main questions:

  1. How do patterns of paid employment change for students between the ages of 12 and 17?
  2. What are the characteristics of employed students aged 16–17 and what are their jobs like?
  3. What proportion of working 16–17 year olds report work–life interference, and what job characteristics relate to work–life interference?
