Community-led approaches are being increasingly recognised and championed as the way forward in disaster recovery and management. This report is the result of reviewing current evidence, policy and practice, and conversations with a diversity of people from communities and organisations with lived experiences of the 2019/2020 summer bushfires and recovery efforts. It outlines possibilities for how things might be done differently to support communities to lead their own recovery and together, create foundations for long-term resilience and thriving.
