Description
This strategy sets the priorities for sport in Australia over the next decade. It provides a framework to align the government's focus, efforts and resources, to realise a shared vision of healthy, active, connected communities and a thriving sport system.
The strategy aims to create healthy, active, connected communities and a thriving sport system through six priorities: participation, inclusion, safety, high performance, international engagement and economy and environment.
The strategy:
- responds to changes in the sporting landscape following the COVID-19 pandemic
- maximises the opportunities created by the decade of major sporting events leading up to and including the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games
- lays a foundation for coordinated action across the sport sector and government to deliver high-quality policies and programs.
Measuring success
The department will continue to work with key stakeholders to develop our monitoring and evaluation framework. This will outline how success is measured across four outcome groups:
- Everyone has a place in sport
- We win well to inspire Australians
- A sustainable Australian sport system
- Australia remains a global leader in sport.
