Description

Mature women in Australia are one of the fastest growing groups at risk of homelessness. This report provides the design principles, personas and prototype design for a preventative approach to homelessness and aimed at improving maintaining secure housing for mature women in Australia: the Women's Butterfly Project (WBP).

This project sought to better understand why this phenomenon is occurring and how it might be prevented using social marketing, justice theory and design-thinking.

The WBP has created a high tech/high-touch approach to preventing homelessness before the risk becomes significant through strategic partnerships with early responders. The WBP portal is a prototype of an online portal that has links to reliable websites for mature women experiencing a change of circumstances (links range from financial tips to how to decorate a new home).
