Cyber security standards
This position paper provides an overview of the current cyber security landscape, highlighting the increasing frequency, sophistication and impact of cyber-attacks. It explores key Australian and international standards and regulatory frameworks, making four recommendations to to enhance Australia’s cyber posture.
The paper emphasizes that standards play an important role in the cyber security ecosystem by establishing best practices that promote data security, global interoperability and the safety of digital products. It also underscores that standards promote consistency across industries and can enhance consumer trust. The paper argues that that not only does robust cyber security mitigate risk, but that it also presents an opportunity for Australia to expand its cyber industry, boost productivity and accelerate the digital economy.
