Description

This report presents brief statistical analyses of the first 22 waves of the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) Survey, a nationally representative longitudinal study of Australian households, which were conducted between 2001 and 2022.

An important theme of this report is how Australians are faring in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis and the sharp rise in the cost of living that has followed it.

The report explores 12 aspects of Australians' lives and how they have changed over time:

  • households and family life
  • household economic wellbeing
  • the labour market
  • household wealth
  • COVID-19: behaviours, perceptions and symptoms
  • perceived employment discrimination
  • housing and neighbourhood satisfaction
  • gambling
  • religious affiliation and attendance at religious services
  • community participation
  • charitable giving
  • pet ownership.
