Description

Workplace gendered violence is a serious and persistent issue in the vocational education and training (VET) sector that extends beyond isolated incidents to reflect deeper structural inequalities and power imbalances embedded within institutions, particularly in male-dominated training and employment sectors.

Training for Respect is a sector-wide initiative designed to address and prevent work-related gendered violence across Victoria's TAFE Institutes and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). At its core, the initiative introduces a shared Theory of Change that serves as a roadmap toward transforming institutional cultures and creating safe, inclusive and respectful learning and work environments where every learner and worker is free from violence, marginalisation and harm across Victoria's VET sector.

The Theory of Change roadmap outlines how the sector can take practical and strategic steps to prevent and respond to work-related gendered violence, primarily focused on adult learning contexts within RTOs and TAFE institutes. It focuses on bringing about both direct change and indirect change in related industries.

The roadmap sets out actions to bring about change aimed at small to medium training providers, RTOs and TAFEs, industry networks and peak bodies, VET regulators, and government and VET system actors.
