Best Practice Charter 2025
The Best Practice Charter for Renewable Energy Projects is a voluntary set of commitments for developers. It outlines the standards that signatories will uphold in the development of current and new clean energy projects. The Best Practice Charter signatory reports for 2025 contain more than 400 examples of how renewable energy developments are delivering for local communities, Traditional Owners, landholders and the environment.
In 2025, more than 40 clean energy organisations submitted reports on their commitments to the Clean Energy Council’s Best Practice Charter. This inaugural summary report provides a comprehensive picture of the social performance activity – local benefits and contributions – clean energy projects are delivering across Australia.
Structured around 13 cross-cutting themes, the report provides leading practice case studies from the 10 commitments of the Best Practice Charter. The themes explored are community engagement, benefit sharing, First nations engagement, minimising environmental impact, local employment, local procurement, education partnerships, agriculture and co-land use, innovative worker accommodation, tourism opportunities, waste and recycling, decommissioning, and cross-sector collaboration.
