The Strategy is a five year national framework to guide investment, influence policy, and support First Nations people to self-determine how they participate in, and benefit from, Australia’s clean energy transition.
The clean energy transition is a critical moment for Australia’s relationship with First Nations peoples. The Strategy aims to help all governments, industry and community members to work together to create opportunities for First Nations people to make their own choices and gain social and economic benefits through the energy transition.
Developed in collaboration with First Nations people and organisations, the Strategy outlines a vision for a sustainable clean energy future for all Australians, with Country and Culture at the heart.
The Strategy is framed around three goals underpinned by a set of objectives and actions.
- Power First Nations communities with clean energy.
- Enable equitable partnerships.
- Achieve economic benefits with First Nations peoples.
The Strategy is accompanied by case studies, jurisdictional policy mapping, data resources, maps, and a consultation and engagement feedback report.
