This report provides information on Australian labour market conditions. It is intended to inform people interested in working in Australia on a temporary or permanent basis, and to organisations providing services to migrants and visa applicants. This edition includes a 'Hot Topic' on the contribution of temporary work visas to the construction industry labour market, including the residential building construction sector. Information is also provided on the main occupations of employment for temporary work visa holders.
Key insights
- The Australian economy and labour market remains resilient, although there are signs of further softening in labour market conditions.
- Over the 12 months to November 2025 there were decreases in trend employment in the wholesale trade, manufacturing, and agriculture, forestry and fishing industries.
- The largest employment increases were seen for professionals, community and personal service workers, and technicians and trades workers.
