This submission to the parliamentary inquiry into community broadcasting provides information about the scope and role of the Australian community broadcasting sector, through a summary of the sector’s key characteristics, history and composition; how the regulatory framework serves to encourage services that reflect the cultural diversity of Australian communities; and challenges faced by the community radio and television sectors.
