Description

Population growth in Victoria and Melbourne is the most pressing challenge and opportunity, of this and the next generation. Victoria is currently growing by 100,000 people a year with 92 per cent of these new Victorians moving to Greater Melbourne.

Having a clear strategy to deal with this growth is vital to the future of Victoria and for future generations of Victoria. Continuing to manage growth for the next thirty years as we have for the past thirty years is unsustainable.

The Liberal National Coalition is committed to tackling this issue head on by developing a clear strategy to manage population growth across the state, including how we best incentivise our regions to grow and encourage people to live and work in regional Victoria.

The Taskforce is Chaired by Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Population Policy, Tim Smith MP. The Taskforce will include experts across of a range of areas relevant to the Taskforce’s Terms of Reference.
