In June 2018 the Northern Territory government asserted that is was committed to commencing discussion on developing a Treaty (or Treaties) with First Nations peoples in the Northern Territory.

The NT Government is committed to developing and implementing a Coastal and Marine Management Strategy that will ensure the health and viability of our coast and seas.

This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) represents the first significant step in advancing a Treaty in the Northern Territory since the call for a national Treaty in the historic Barunga Statement by the Northern and Central Land Councils.

This is the NT Government’s plan to implement reforms to better support children, young people and families experiencing vulnerability and to deliver the recommendations of the Royal Commission into the Protection and Detention of Children in the Northern Territory.

This plan will shape decision-making about children's services in the NT. The strategy document sets out the principles, and the implementation plan sets in motion the actions to be undertaken in the first four years.
