Climate change associated with greenhouse gas emissions is widely recognised as one of the world’s most serious challenges. Road transport is a key contributor, accounting for a 20.9% increase in South Australia’s emissions between 1990 and 2005. Of the State’s total transport-related emissions in 2005, road transport made up about 89%.

The 30-year plan for Greater Adelaide was aimed at guiding population and economic growth, particularly in respect of land use, transport and infrastructure. It was revised in 2017.

This report summarises the technical analysis undertaken in preparation for the first Plan for Greater Adelaide (2010). It addresses a range of urban issues, including housing, transport, economic development and climate change.
