This report presents the findings of a research project conducted by the Schools Support Program at Foundation House. This project sought out the insights of students of refugee backgrounds on the barriers and facilitators to learning and engagement at school.

The literature review presented in this report aimed to investigate the evidence available for overweight and obesity among refugee and migrant adolescent populations who have recently arrived in their resettlement country.

On 14 September 2012, Australia sent the first people back to Nauru under the second version of its offshore processing policy. This joint report examines what is happening to around 900 people who are still stuck on Nauru six years later, including an estimated 109 children.

While this project was based on two case study schools, the practices described in the framework can be used by all schools supporting students from refugee backgrounds who are undertaking their senior secondary school certificate of education.

This resource provides an overview of the young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds arriving in Australia between 2015 and 2016.
