Behavioural science methods are increasingly used to design and evaluate public policies that better reflect human behaviour and decision-making. This working paper proposes guidelines and a visual roadmap, including five key questions to guide the selection of appropriate methods, and seven different experimental or non-experimental methods to choose from.

This study was aimed at understanding the attitudes and positions of key Australian organisational and political stakeholders towards using psychedelic agents in medically supervised environments to treat mental health conditions.

Public support for Randomised Controlled Trials and nudge interventions in Australian social policy
An emerging view in public policy is that there should be greater use of evaluations and randomised controlled trials (also known as RCTs). This paper provides the first large-scale survey evidence on knowledge and support for RCTs in a high-income country, and how this support varies across the population.

Behavioural roadmap to circular consumption
Over three years, BehaviourWorks undertook two major streams of research to understand what ‘circular consumption’ behaviours are required to significantly reduce Australia’s material footprint, as part of transitioning to a circular economy. The work revealed that eight core circular behaviours can be adopted by consumers to help reduce Australia’s material footprint.
